Fat Beehive - Campaign UK’s 40 Over 40 winner: Mark Watson

Our CEO is rewarded for a varied career committed to social good and campaigning for change

Being recognised for a career that has spanned volunteering, campaigning for gay rights, spearheading the rise of an online LGBTQ+ community, being a councillor and cabinet member for Croydon and now heading up Fat Beehive, Mark Watson has been named in Campaign Magazine’s 40 over 40 for 2022.

Joining the Hive in 2018, Mark has doubled the agency’s turnover and staff and steered the organisation through the Covid-19 with a people-focused approach. Since becoming CEO, Mark has implemented several policies which contributed to the award, most notably partnering with Code4000 to provide ex-offenders with employment opportunities in the tech sector.

Mark reached out to Code4000 in 2021 with a view to taking on a Code4000 graduate upon their release from prison.

What has always struck me about Mark and Fat Beehive is their no-nonsense approach to working with people from disadvantaged and marginalised groups and backgrounds; he has always seen beyond the labels often attached to people who’ve been in the criminal justice system and worked with them based purely on their talent and potential.
