Inspired to help people with disabilities at Calvert Exmoor

Working on the new website for this accessible activity centre was such a meaningful experience for Monika that she says she would now love to offer her time to help them.

Calvert Exmoor have been offering exciting accessible breaks for people with physical, learning, behavioral and sensory disabilities for almost 3 decades. In addition to providing a huge range of activities such as climbing, bushcraft and zipwire, the charity also boasts their own equestrian centre. ‘It’s what you CAN do’ is their motivating slogan, one which resonates throughout their exhilarating website.

Calvert needed a site which could offer easy navigation of the over 300 breaks and activities available, with straightforward structure and clear navigation for users, so that there would be no barrier for disabled people when choosing and booking. Whilst offering effective filtering, this needed to be balanced with wide visibility of all that was on offer so that the user might be attracted to other possibilities. Digital designer Roni’s creation was clever yet simple to minimise confusion and distraction for those wanting to book, but also a clear path to make donations.

Fat Beehive also built a time-saving integration to enable the charity to upload large amounts of data as a single file instead of a long process of adding each piece of information one by one. 

Monika Jukneviciute, Fat Beehive Project Manager for the Calvert Exmoor website, says she would love to volunteer for this charity, having seen their exciting project and what it can bring to the lives of people with disabilities. She feels that the experience could bring so much to non-disabled people in seeing a person who might have great difficulty in many areas of their lives doing such amazing things. 

With the site now live, Monika is happy that Fat Beehive have achieved their goals, and is proud to have played a part in bringing the mission of this genuine and compassionate charity to the attention of a wider audience of users.
