Fat Beehive is delighted to support the Change100 programme - supporting disabled graduates into employment

Fat Beehive is committed to equality and diversity by promoting a culture that actively values difference. We recognise that people from different backgrounds and experiences bring valuable insights to the workplace and enhance the way we work.

According to Leonard Cheshire, 77% of students and recent graduates with disabilities fear they will be discriminated against if they disclose their disability to employers, so we are proud to have joined their Change100 programme. The initiative aspires to remove barriers experienced by disabled people in the workplace and to allow them to achieve their potential.

The programme supports the career development of talented university students and recent graduates with any disability or long-term health condition, such as:

  • Physical disabilities
  • Sensory disabilities
  • Mental health conditions
  • Learning disabilities or difficulties e.g. dyslexia, dyspraxia, ADHD
  • Other long-term health conditions e.g. diabetes, MS.

All students go through the Leonard Cheshire assessment process: Fat Beehive is assisting in both London and Manchester. Then students are matched to suitable employers in April and will work full time over the summer.

We are proud to support the Change100 initiative. To be successful we need to recruit and retain the very best staff. The programme gives us access to a pool of exceptionally high-calibre candidates that we may not reach via traditional recruitment processes.

Once selected, Fat Beehive will be offering a London Living Wage paid internship to a disabled student to work from our London office over the summer.

The Change 100 programme has really helped me build my confidence back up. Just knowing that my employer was making a decision to be more inclusive and aware of disabilities in the workplace made it so much easier to start working with them.
