This role is primarily front-end focused, using our bespoke WordPress component framework (based on Advanced Custom Fields), to build websites from Figma designs for our charity and non-profit clients.
A successful applicant will be someone who can demonstrate strong front-end experience and WordPress expertise (especially with ACF), and who can get up and running quickly.
The role will include setting up new projects from scratch, using Git and SSH on a daily basis, and building out site templates from prepared Figma designs. This will also include occasionally customising ACF components both via the ACF GUI and through custom plugins where needed.
You’ll be expected to take ownership of your work, demonstrate sound judgment, and progress tasks independently — we value team members who ask the right questions at the right time, and who don’t require detailed explanations of established or routine practices.
You will be comfortable working solo across the technical aspects of a project, operating with minimal supervision and confident in applying core principles without needing step-by-step instruction.
What You Will Do
- Build responsive, accessible WordPress websites using our custom ACF-based framework.
- Translate Figma designs into well-structured, reusable front-end components.
- Set up new projects using Git and SSH, including local and remote environments.
- Customise ACF components as needed, via both the GUI and custom PHP code.
- Collaborate with designers and project managers to deliver high-quality builds to specification and deadline.
- Troubleshoot issues across front-end and back-end, and apply fixes independently.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of our internal tools and framework.
What You Will Bring
- Solid experience building WordPress sites from scratch using ACF and custom themes.
- Strong front-end skills: CSS/SCSS, semantic HTML, and JavaScript (bonus if using minimal JS).
- PHP knowledge and understanding of WordPress architecture.
- Git fluency and confidence working on the command line (macOS or Linux environment).
- Ability to work independently without requiring excessive guidance on common tasks.
- A thoughtful, proactive mindset and willingness to own your work from start to finish.
- Professionalism, attention to detail, and an appreciation of working for clients who do good in the world.
You will work from our Lekki Phase 1 office 3 days a week, alongside our designer, project manager and account manager, as a distinct team delivering websites for our BeeLite client projects.
Reporting directly to the Head of Technology, you will play a key role in providing excellent digital solutions to our clients.
