Three reasons to celebrate our charity clients this summer

Keith McDonnell

From groundbreaking research and national TV recognition to raising awareness of domestic abuse, three Fat Beehive clients are making a real difference this summer.

Making a difference beyond the website

Good news never goes out of date – especially when it’s our charity clients making it happen.

One of the best things about building charity websites is seeing the impact they continue to make long after launch.

Whether they’re funding life-changing research, supporting people through recovery or raising awareness of important issues, our clients are making a real difference every day.

Here are three recent examples that caught our eye.

Retina UK achieves important research milestone

Congratulations to Retina UK on successfully passing the Association of Medical Research Charities (AMRC) Expert Review Audit.

This isn’t just another accreditation. It demonstrates that Retina UK’s research funding process is robust, transparent and independent, giving researchers, funders and supporters confidence that every pound invested is helping fund the highest-quality inherited sight loss research.

Passing the audit also gives Retina UK-funded researchers access to additional NHS and UK Government funding opportunities, helping accelerate future discoveries.

It’s a fantastic achievement and a testament to the expertise and dedication of everyone involved. As Retina UK marks its 50th anniversary year, with a gala dinner taking place in October, it’s another reminder of the charity’s long-standing commitment to funding world-class research and supporting people affected by inherited sight loss.

Congratulations to the whole Retina UK team – we’re proud to support an organisation helping drive forward vital sight loss research.

The Katie Piper Foundation reaches millions

We were delighted to see The Katie Piper Foundation, featured on BBC One’s Lifeline Appeal.

Presented by Jeff Brazier, the programme highlighted the Foundation’s remarkable work supporting burns survivors through specialist rehabilitation, psychological support and peer networks, bringing its life-changing services to a national television audience.

As the team behind the Foundation’s website, we’ve seen first-hand the care, compassion and determination that underpin everything they do. It was wonderful to see that work recognised on such a high-profile platform and reach millions of viewers across the UK.

A statistic that deserves attention

The World Cup may now be over, but one statistic deserves to stay in the spotlight.

Research from Women’s Aid UK found that incidents of domestic abuse increase by 38% when England lose a match, and by 26% when they win or draw during a major international tournament.

Football doesn’t cause domestic abuse. But for many women already living with abuse, major sporting events can be a time when existing behaviour escalates and support services come under even greater pressure.

That’s why Women’s Aid’s Kick Off campaign is so important. By raising awareness of the link between football and domestic abuse, challenging harmful attitudes and helping ensure women know where to turn for support, the charity is working to protect women and children across England.

We’re proud to support Women’s Aid and the vital work they do every day to support survivors, raise awareness and campaign for change.

Celebrating the difference our clients make

Behind every website we build is an organisation working hard to make the world a little bit better.

Sometimes that means supporting people through the toughest moments of their lives. Sometimes it means funding research that could change lives in the future. Sometimes it’s about making sure more people know where to turn for help.

Those are stories worth telling.
