Getting Cyber Smart with New Certifications

Keith McDonnell

We’re now Cyber Essentials and ISO 27001 certified!

Delivering peace of mind

We’re proud to announce that Fat Beehive has been awarded Cyber Essentials certification and has been ISO 27001:2022  re-certified for another year — two key milestones that demonstrate our ongoing commitment to information security, data protection and good digital governance.

Why this matters

Cyber Essentials is a UK government-backed scheme that helps organisations guard against common cyber threats. It sets out a clear set of technical controls — including firewalls, access controls and software update practices — that reduce risk and strengthen security.

ISO 27001:2022 takes things even further. It’s the leading international standard for information security, setting out best practice for how organisations manage, monitor and continually improve their information systems, processes and governance. Certification means we’ve implemented a formal Information Security Management System (ISMS) that protects the data of our clients, users, and team — and that we’ve been independently audited to prove it.

For the charities, NGOs and mission-led organisations we work with, this means:

  • Greater transparency and accountability
  • Reduced risk when sharing data or collaborating on digital projects
  • Peace of mind that their platforms and information are in safe hands

Securing digital for good

Whether it’s building accessible websites, embedding inclusive design, or meeting ethical standards as a B Corp and Living Wage employer, Fat Beehive has always been committed to best practice. These new certifications are a natural extension of that ethos — and a strong foundation for how we move forward.

“We take our responsibility seriously when it comes to security, privacy and data protection,” said Marcus Watson, CEO of Fat Beehive. “Achieving both Cyber Essentials and ISO 27001 certification shows that we’re doing the work behind the scenes to keep our systems resilient and our clients’ data secure.”

A huge thank you to the team for making this happen. It’s not the kind of work that wins design awards — but when it comes to trust, resilience and doing right by our clients, it couldn’t be more important.
