Junior Drupal Developer

You should be an all-round coder with experience ideally using a PHP MVC framework or CMS. You’re comfortable explaining what you have coded and why. You might already have some professional experience in web development and are keen to work on projects for good causes or, alternatively, you are looking for that first opportunity to start a career, having already done a lot of coding on your own.

Key duties & responsibilities

Learn, 20%

We are a WordPress and Drupal development team. For this role we will spend time with you to get you up to speed with Drupal, our workflow, Drupal standards and best practice.

Development, 80%

  • Build up your skills in Drupal development (all new sites are in Drupal 8) covering PHP, MySQL, Javascript and jQuery with support from the development team
  • Collaborate with designers/frontend developers and with the help of the team deliver entire sites and web apps.
  • Write clean, efficient and readable code.
  • Understand how to write efficient MySQL queries without the support of frameworks or CMSs.

Essential skills

  • Be passionate about coding quality and meeting standards keeping up to date with the progress of PHP and other web technologies.
  • Familiar with object oriented concepts used in PHP frameworks (such as Symfony, Zend, etc)
  • Accurately track time spent and ensure efficient production.
  • Desirable skills

Drupal experience

  • An understanding of Linux / AWS server management.
  • Have used version control software such as Mercurial or Git.
  • Have experience with Linux/Unix command line environment.
  • Have integrated with third party APIs.
