Fat Beehive Ltd - We Do Webstuff

People

Fat Beehive are a small, flexible and experienced team of seven who are currently suffering the noise and mess of having 20 builders working next door.

Paul Beaton, Project Manager Paul Beaton has been employed with Fat Beehive since 2000, where he began as a junior developer. From a computer science background, Paul began developing in HTML, Javascript and Perl, and was involved in running and maintaining our servers. A change in systems saw him become proficient in PHP and MySQL, developing websites for Cafédirect, Crisis and the Sustainable Development Commission, amongst others. Paul took over project managing the production team at Fat Beehive in 2005. Paul’s background as a developer means that he is superbly placed to liaise between production staff and the client - he explains complex and technical issues in a clear and comprehensible manner to the most techno-phobic of clients. Paul has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Maths and Computer Science from the University of Essex, Colchester, UK.

Louise Petre, Senior Designer Louise Petre has been working in web design since 1998 both in a freelance capacity and for the large online retailer bol.com. Louise joined Fat Beehive in 2003 and specialises in designing and developing highly usable and accessible website designs in xHTML and CSS. In depth knowledge of Adobe Flash and a working knowledge of PHP has seen Louise develop database-driven animated interactive Flash elements for clients including Cafédirect, Mumsnet / GE Money and Gamcare. Louise has an Honors Degree in Art History from the Australian National University, Canberra and a Postgraduate Degree in Animation from the Victorian College of Arts in Melbourne, Australia.

Matt Dwyer, Senior Developer Matt Dwyer has worked with computer technology since 1996, and in website development roles since 1998 involving freelance, consultant and senior developer positions. Matt joined Fat Beehive in early 2006 where his expertise has focused on PHP, MySQL and Javascript work. This has involved redeveloping our integrated website administration and content management systems and developing secure extranet and media library facilities. Thorough knowledge of Adobe Flash programming has seen the development of an online counseling facility for Gamcare. Matt has a Bachelor of Information Technology Degree in Computer Science and Software Engineering from the Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane, Australia.

Duncan Heron, Developer Duncan Heron began his web development career in 2003, with a construction software company in Cape Town, South Africa. Duncan joined Fat Beehive in 2005, where he has further developed his proficient HTML, Javascript, CSS, MYSQL and PHP skills. Duncan has a Business Computing Certificate and an IT Programming Diploma from Varsity College in Cape Town, South Africa.

Marcus Taylor, Systems Administration Marcus Taylor has been administering networks and servers, and writing various languages of computer code since 2000. Marcus joined Fat Beehive in 2007 and has concentrated on developing and implementing renewed back up policies and mechanisms, and implementing a new telephone PBX in house. In addition to server systems administration, Marcus undertakes PHP and MySQL development work typically in the more code intensive and database areas of work.

Matt Taylor, Video Producer Matt Taylor is a founder and director of Fat Beehive, and hence has been with the company since its inception in 1997. Matt was originally involved in design, layout and the HTML build of websites and now operates as a second web designer as needed. He also undertakes a limited amount of print work for clients. Matt’s specialist focus of work since 2003 is video production work - including the setting up of productions (crewing, shooting, paperwork), editing and final production (to DVD, etc), and integration of video content into a website. Matt has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Design Media Arts from the University of Westminster, London, UK.

Tom Moreton, Managing Director Tom has been at Fat Beehive since the beginning in 1997. After studying Design Media Arts he set up Fat Beehive with Matt Taylor. Tom talks to prospective clients, pretends to manage the accounts and attempts to keep the staff happy.
