The Bromley By Bow Centre

Giving new meaning to 'community centre', the Bromley By Bow Centre presents a website with depth.

The Bromley by Bow Centre is an innovative community organisation in East London. Working in one of the most deprived wards in the UK, the centre supports families, young people and adults of all ages to learn new skills, improve their health and wellbeing, find employment and develop the confidence to achieve their goals and transform their lives.

This complex and multi-faceted organisation require a website that caters to its wide range of stake holders, covering multiple strands of activity. The design of the site had to tread a delicate path to represent all interested parties, and to allow freedom for the social enterprises within the centre to properly present themselves as independent businesses.

The navigation of the website was carefully worked through to ensure all stake holders were represented in a logical structure, and the people oriented aspect of the centre is prominent, not least, through the main navigation item 'Stories '.
A number of templates were created to allow certain sections of the website to operate as micro-sites or defined sub-sections within the site. For the social enterprises within the organisation (Green Dreams , Lekker Design and Signs of Life ), their section templates remove the main website navigation and allow for a stand alone sub-navigation, thereby creating the website within a website feel.
The site aims to be a hub of information for the centre, and is driven by regularly updated news stories and events listings.
