A new habitat for the Bats

The Bat Conservation Trust revamp with a new, wider website

The Bat Conservation Trust website

The Bats Conservation Trust is the only national organisation solely devoted to the conservation of bats and their habitats in the UK. Its vision is a world where bats and people live in harmony.

Revamp and Membership System

The BCT wanted to revamp their website at the same time as upgrading their membership management systems. Fat Beehive undertook to redesign and build the new website and to tie the site into a membership management system run by Associa .

Not Vampires

The design briefing was specific about not making the website too dark - BCT didn't want to evoke the sinister associations of bats and vampires, but rather to emphasise the bat as part of nature and to underline what a wonderful animal it is.
We accomplished the brief with the use of a rich purple header with hues of colour forming a background nightscape (you'll need to view the website on a screen larger than 1024 pixels wide to see the background). Bright coloured buttons on the right hand side of the website provide a 'lift' to counter the darkness of the purple and create a focal point of specific navigation.
The BCT has a great library of fantastic images. We ensured these could be used prominently through the front page slide show which is updated by BCT staff.

BeeKeeper to keep the bats in order

The Bat Conservation Trust website is controlled through our BeeKeeper Content Management System and includes modules to control an email newsletter, news stories, events and forms throughout the website and a categorised media library.
