Sue Ryder Care is a leading healthcare charity providing specialist palliative, neurological and community based services. They provide expert and compassionate care and support for people living with serious illnesses and conditions, as well as their families and loved ones.

Designed to Unify, Include and Touch

A thorough briefing from Sue Ryder Care staff gave our designer a clear direction:

"The new website design is driven by the desire to unify, include and touch, to connect-with and speak with one voice to Sue Ryder Care's multiple audiences which include Sufferers, Carers, Supporters, Recruiters and Fundraisers.

Key inspiration came from the strong contemporary Sue Ryder Care photographic campaign. Picking up on the theme of 'not suffering alone' drove the choice to elevate the calm, reassuring 'beach twosome' image to a prominent page header with a tighter 'CinemaScope' crop, and thereafter to lead the eye from the two figures down into the two columns running below them.

Plenty of white space around the elements allows the site to breathe, whilst softer page elements are incorporated into the layout; such as rounded corners, subtle drop shadows and watercolour brush strokes to further resonate with the key themes of 'Care that liberates', 'Transparent & Honest' and 'Less is more. "

Highly flexible with ease of use - our Website administration and Content Management Systems

The website is driven by Fat Beehive's flexible and simple to use BeeKeeper Content Management System which includes tools to manage news stories, events listings, job vacancies, directories of information, discussion forums, email newsletters and online credit card donations in addition to full control of webpages throughout the site.

A 'portlet' system allows Sue Ryder staff to easily control secondary information in the side columns of the website, by establishing sets of individual portlets which can be applied to each page in the website.
