The St Helena Development Agency (SHDA)

Despite being over 4,500 miles south of London it was a pleasure to work with the SHDA and island designer Ripetungi

St Helena Island is one of the worlds most isolated inhabited islands - it has no airport and is not on an international shipping lane. It is 1800 miles from the coast of Brazil and 1200 miles from the port of Alexander in Angolan Africa and is a British dependent overseas territory.

The St Helena Development Agency was established in 1995 to promote and enable economic development on St Helena. The agencies role has been enhanced now that the island expects to have air access for the first time in its history. Air access will create an opportunity for new businesses with both an import and export potential.

Fat Beehive have worked with St Helena based web designer Ripetungi to develop a new website for the St Helena Development Agency. Ripetungi created the design in consultation with the development agency on the island and with some input from Fat Beehive. Fat Beehive then built the website and installed our BeeKeeper Content Management System along with our Form Builder system, to allow the addition and editing of forms in the website, and our BeeKeeper Mailing List System, to allow the creation and sending of e-newsletters.

The website also features a categorised business directory database and a simple postcard system that allows site visitors to email a postcard to friends from the website.
