a new website for Asylum Aid

Asylum Aid is an independent, national charity that work to secure protection for people seeking refuge in the United Kingdom from persecution and human rights abuses abroad.

Elegant design

The new Asylum Aid website is a calm, clear and elegant example of user centric, accessible website design. Free of gimmicks and delicate in design, the website works efficiently to deliver the information needed to its core audience.

Our Publications System

The Asylum Aid website features a particularly well formed example of our Publications System - a searchable database of categorised documents.

Asylum Aid currently have five categories, comprising Annual Reports, Policy Responses, Press Releases, Research Reports and Women's Asylum News. They can add categories when needed, via our BeeKeeper Content Management System.

Each instance of publication in the system has various pieces of information attached to it - title, category, date, summary and so on - we determine this with clients during the Planning Meeting of the project. A publication entry can have numerous files associated with it - for example, Asylum Aid may want to attach an English and a French version of a document.
This flexible systems allows robust use overtime without the need to revert to the website developer to extend the system - a time and money saving measure.

"We found the whole process of working with Fat Beehive fast and efficient. From the outset, they listened to our preferences and demonstrated a good understanding of the brief we gave them.

They made constructive suggestions but we never felt like they were forcing ideas on us for things that we didn't really want or need. They were open to trying out different ideas we had and they were very accommodating when we made further requests whilst the website was being built.

The CMS and related manual are really simple to follow and don't require any previous experience of working with websites.Their staff are friendly and engaging and very quick to respond to any queries we have.

Overall, we are very satisfied with our new website and would certainly recommend Fat Beehive to other organisations in the sector."
