SPAB Launch New Web Page Portal
22nd July 2007
Find out about the 'Maintain Your Building' week!
Fat Beehive have recently designed and developed a portal website (Maintain Your Building) along with two microsites (Faith in Maintenance & National Maintenance Week) for the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings (SPAB).
The Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings was founded by William Morris in 1877 to counteract the highly destructive 'restoration' of medieval buildings being practised by many Victorian architects. Today it is the largest, oldest and most technically expert national pressure group fighting to save old buildings from decay, demolition and damage.
SPAB wanted a flexible, easy to manage site that was distinct and easy to navigate while at the same time maintaining the look and branding of their main website.
Fat Beehive accomplished this by keeping the look and feel of the new sites consistent with SPAB's main website, making use of their existing branding while creating a distinct design using their colour palette, icons and logos throughout. The site is fully content managed using Fat Beehive's bespoke installed CMS 'BeeKeeper' and is built to a high standard of accessibility.
This portal site provides a single entry point that enables users to view information from a variety of sources and helps them gather and disseminate information more effectively. The design of the website aims to give the user a feel and sense of consistency, uniformity, and ease of navigation.
The site offers a text resizer and text only facility as well as a site wide search facility.
