The Sustainable Development Commission is the Government's independent advisory body on sustainable development.

Fat Beehive have redesigned, restructured and rebuilt the Sustainable Development Commissions' (SDC) website, working closely with SDC communications personnel.

This newly structured site features a site-wide Content Management System with specific control of content on the front page of the site, allowing the SDC to flag up multiple issues and features currently relevant to todays agenda.
The front page features a system to seperately control the main news story, the central column of news stories, blocks of content on the left and the right hand side of the page. The news ticker and opinion poll system are also controlled by easy to use, flexible and quick to update content management systems.

The blocks of content on the right and left hand sides allow titles, links, images, text and polls to be added, edited and removed. Background colours can be changed (with a limited choice to ensure design consistency on the site) and images are added from a centrally uploaded image database, which is used for all images across the website.

The Content Management System employs an approval system, allowing only authorised staff to approve content to be published on the site.

The SDC website encourages user participation through user uploaded case studies, email newsletter signups and an online debate. These are all controlled through administration systems which allow the SDC to edit and approve content where necessary and to send out email newsletters to subscribers.

The content management system also encompasses Scottish and Welsh versions of the site, with content management that allows country specific front pages and various other pages specific to the region.

A fully searchable Publications section of the site allows the SDC to upload and make available to the public a wide range of PDF documents.

Fat Beehive are proud to work with the Sustainable Development Commission and applaud the work done by the commission.
