Ataxia Uk new site launched
3rd February 2005
The charity for sufferers of the disease Ataxia have revamped their website.
Ataxia is a disease that affects the fine coordination of muscle movements. One of the charity Ataxia Uks main objectives is to fund research into ataxia. The new site sets out to provide technical and general information about ataxia, information about help and support services and information that encourages people to get involved with support and fund raising.
The site is fully content managed, allowing Ataxia Uk staff to update the site on a regular basis, providing an essential outlet for information about ataxia.
Fat Beehive designed the site in consultation with Ataxia Uk to ensure that the site would be usable to all and, in particular, to sufferers of ataxia. The default size of text on the site is large and we've added a text sizing facility to increase or decrease font size. Site colours have been chosen to make the content and sections clear, obvious and well defined. Navigation and buttons throughout are large to make it easier for ataxia sufferers, who have less accurate coordination, to operate the site.
Along with the site being accessible to all, the look and feel of the site was to inclusive, for visitors to feel welcome and involved. This has been achieved through the clean and clear layout and the use of inspirational and warm images that reflect members of Ataxia UK.
The site makes use of the BBC's Betsie software to create a text only version of the site. Access Keys are used to aid accessibility.
