What We Do
Content Management and Self Administration Tools
Control Freakery
We like and encourage Content Management systems. They give you the control over the text and image content of your site, making the site more accurate, immediate and useful. They can control and organise your data, they can save you money. And with this saved money, we can advise you how to go further with the development of your website.
Content Management Systems deal with a core set of functions - data input, data output and data manipulation. We use our 'BeeKeeper' core code as the basis to build our systems, adapting them to each clients requirements.
Be Kept with BeeKeeper
BeeKeeper is our general Content Management and Self Administration interface for websites and is used by most of our clients to some extent. It covers a wide range of possibilities for helping run your website. Find out about the BeeKeeper Components here.
Cut to size, made to measure
The list of BeeKeeper Components demonstrates the wide range of possibilities from BeeKeeper. We welcome the challenge of building bespoke systems to a clients specification - it keeps us on our toes! Below are some examples of bespoke systems we've built:
- World Coffee and Tea price graphs - Cafedirect maintain a graph showing current prices and the price they pay above the Fairtrade price through their Gold Standard practice. This graph is updated weekly. Click the above link to see the graphs.
- Time variable front pages - The front page of the site displayed different products according to the time of day. Which product was shown and when was controlled by a BeeKeeper interface. This is now offline.
Hand made with great tools
We are adamant about the use of the open source software. We principally use the open source and free PHP scripting language and the equally free and open source MySQL database to build the backend part of websites. (We also use Perl and occasionally the PostGreSQL database.) These fantastic pieces of software are widely available, highly functional, continually developed and free of charge, making them excellent tools with a long life and a low cost of implementation.
