The history of our charity web design work

Fat Beehive started out in website design by pitching to and winning work with Cafédirect, the fair trade coffee company. We were very attracted to, and wanted to support, the fair trade principle of using business to deliver better outcomes for producers and the idea of running a company for something other than pure profit gain. We looked around for more fair trade companies to work with but couldn't find enough web design work in the fair trade field. So we turned our attention to its neighbour, website design for charity, figuring that we could apply a similar approach of supporting charity organisations with efficient, cost effective charity web design.

Beyond charity web design work

We have always favoured providing our web design services to charity organisations that are doing something useful, helpful and constructive, from Build Africa providing schools in Rwanda and Kenyan to the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings helping preserve the nation's heritage. We want to provide cost effective, supported website development to these fantastic organisations.

And there are plenty of organisations that might not be charities that are engaged in essential work in a range of fields. For example, National Historic Ships works to preserve the nation's water borne heritage while the Sustainable Development Commission operates as the government's watchdog and advisor on sustainable development.

Providing web design to charity, not-for-profit, NGO and social enterprise organisations means that we engage with enthusiastic, dedicated people who are working hard to make a difference in a multitude of ways.

We want to support, aid and encourage these charity and not-for-profit organisations and we make considerable efforts to provide our charity website design services to organisations of all sizes and budgets.  As a profitable private limited company we have the flexibility and efficiency in website design to offer effective, high quality, supported web development to a wide range of clients.

The other 5%

95% of our clients are in the charity, NGO and not-for-profit areas. We also provide website design services to a small number of companies who've come to us via referral or because we are working in the same area, for example AppiChar who offer IT outsourcing to charities.
